I'm sitting at the dining table back at my home, with my mom, my little sister, and my stepdad, and I am just too excited about Alexa, to keep shut.

“Alexa got her wolf, Mom. “I announce, and my mom looks up at me with a grand smile. I would have told my mom about it much earlier, but she was out for work at her bakery, and I had to stay back home to babysit Deion. My little sister.

“That's good news. Her parents must be so proud. “My mom replies, and I smile.

“Yes, they are. Mrs. Bliss couldn't stop smiling. “I reply with a massive smile as I remember the woman's happy face, and my stepdad stops eating.

“That's other children making their parents proud. When are you going to get your wolf? You'd be turning 18 soon.

I hope you're not going to be one of those miserable wolfless things. If you are, I'd gladly sell you off! “He says to me, and my heart drops into my stomach.

“Gerald! “My mom snaps at him, and he glares up at her.

“Don't yell at me, Camila! You better pray to the goddess that she isn't wolfless, otherwise… “He yells back at my mom, before looking back at me.

His dark, brown eyes are filled with so much rage, and his lips are pressed into a thin line. His blonde hair is a mess on his head, and his fist is grabbing his fork so tightly, that his knuckles turn white.

He's staring at me like he would shoot a bullet through my head if he had the chance to.

"I swear to the goddess, if you're wolfless, I'd sell you off without a second thought. We both know I don't like you. So pray that the goddess doesn't give me a chance to get rid of you, 'cause I'd grab it without hesitation. " He says to me, before getting up in irritation and storming out of the room.

I gulp as I feel tears bite the sides of my eyes, and as he slams the door shut, the orange lights on the candles flicker, but thankfully, do not go out.

I've always known that he hates me. Although, I don't know why. Yes, I'm his stepdaughter, but I've never done anything to hurt him. Never. I don't understand why he's so bitter towards me.

I was at first willing to accept him as my father, but he suddenly turned cold towards me and ruined any hopes I had of having a father-and-daughter bond with him.

“Don't mind your father, Celine. I'm sure you'd get your wolf. A beautiful one.

One which would be just as beautiful and unique as you are. “My mom says to me as she takes hold of my hand, and I look into my mother's perfect, green eyes to find assurance.

She squeezes my hand, and I swallow and nod while trying to blink back my tears. My little sister suddenly walks into the room. Rubbing her eyes as she just woke up. My father's noise must have gotten to her.

"Celine, can you please come and sing me a lullaby? I can't fall back to sleep. "She begs, and I can't help but smile at her cuteness and innocence.

"Of course, sugarplum. "

I'm at my house looking after Deion, and Bordem threatens to completely suck the life out of me. Deion and I are busy coloring pictures, and I'm fighting hard, the urge to sleep.

My mom and dad are out for work, and we're home alone. I suddenly hear someone knock on the door downstairs, and not long after, I hear Alexa's voice scream out to me.

“Celine, hurry down! Sophie has gotten her wolf! She's at our spot right now! “

My heart skips a beat as I hear those words, and I quickly pick up Deion and rush down the stairs.

"Coming! "I scream at Alexa who's started knocking again,

I open the door and stare at Alexa with wide eyes. Alexa is panting, and she looks flushed. She ran here all the way from our treehouse.

“For real? “I question Alexa, who has her dark hair flying in the wind, and she smiles at me.

“For real, Celine! She's at our spot right now! “Alexa answers and I become breathless in excitement. I quickly shut my house's door and began a mad race to our spot while holding on tightly to my little sister, who is busy laughing in my arms.

I halt when I get to our spot, and find Hans and Fridolf with a beautiful brown wolf. The wolf has dark eyes and has two shades of brown. Dark and light.

“Sophia? “I question in disbelief, and the wolf turns me. Causing me to gasp.

“You got your wolf! She's so beautiful! “I exclaim, and Sophia howls in excitement before hopping around and wagging her tail.

Gosh, her wolf is beautiful. Its fur is shining under the sun, and it looks like an angel. Beautiful does not do justice to this wolf. It's... I don't even know the words that can describe it.

I sit down with my friends, and Sophie turns back to her human form. She sits with us and then tells us how she got her wolf the night before, and how her wolf is so much like her father's. Just how she wanted it to be.

Among all the excitement and bickering, I feel a mild pressure in my heart. This means I'm the only one left now.

When will I be getting my wolf? Will it be soon? Or never?

What if, by chance, what my stepdad said comes true? What if I don't get a wolf? The moon goddess won't do that to me, will she?

Deion pulls at my hair, and I look down at her, only to find her smiling at me and showing off the space for her two missing teeth.

"Don't worry sis. I'm sure your wolf would be the best of them all. "She whispers, and I smile lightly at the little angel, and hug her to myself. I inhale deeply as my mind runs back to my former thoughts.

What if… Just what if I'm wolfless?

If I'm not wolfless, why is it taking so long for me to get a wolf? I'm the only one left in my circle now!

What's going on? Has the moon goddess forgotten about me?
