Koen Maxwell had been poor and despised by Regina Ernest, his wife. Until one day, Henry Maxwell, his father who had been missing, gave him a huge allowance...
"Damn! So many zeros!"
Koen Maxwell looked at the balance of his bank card in shock, which was a full 160 million dollars. Having been missing for a few years, Koen's father contacted him and wanted to compensate Koen with money. Yet it never occurred to Koen that he would have 160 million dollars as an allowance!
"It has been so long since the class was over. Why are you still here?"
While he was in a daze, Regina Ernest pulled him into a small alley next to the school, afraid that others would see them.
"Ah? I ... I was about to go home," Koen came back to his senses and replied in a low voice.
Regina was Koen's class teacher and also his legal wife.
A few years ago, Koen's parents helped the Ernest family. To express their gratitude, the Ernest family proposed to marry Regina to Koen. Right after Koen became an adult, he and Regina were forced to get married, and he had been living with her since his parents disappeared.
Unfortunately, Regina loathed being his wife utterly.
"Go home now. Don't make a fool of yourself outside and embarrass me!" Regina rolled her eyes at Koen impatiently and turned to leave.
Koen followed Regina all the way to the parking lot while thinking about the fact that he had 160 million dollars now. He found it hard to not laugh out loud.
"You don't deserve to take my car. Take the bus back yourself!
"You live like a parasite. How shameful!"
Regina was about to get in the car when she saw Koen behind her, who was fantasizing about something and tittering. The more she looked at him, the more disgusting she found him. Then she slammed the door shut.
"Fuck!"
Koen froze on the spot and thought, I am just happily giggling. What does that have anything to do with you? Why are you annoyed? Though he was a bit angry, he still let her get her way. After all, when he was homeless, it was Regina who took him in.
Koen was rich now. Therefore, instead of taking the bus, he took a taxi and went back to Regina's home, a few minutes earlier than her.
When Regina came back, Koen was sitting in the living room on his phone.
"You took a taxi back? Let me make it clear to you. If you have no money left, don't even think about asking me for it. You are already so poor, and you still choose to take a taxi? No wonder you can do nothing!"
When Regina entered the door and saw Koen, she scolded him again. She thought, Koen, I have been providing for you, and I know better than anyone how much money you have. I can't believe you take a taxi home. Don't you know how much money you have? You should know better.
Without waiting for Koen to reply, Regina directly went back to her room.
Not long after, she came out wearing a new dress, making her exquisite figure even perfect. Seeing her, Koen was slightly stunned.
"What are you looking at? Believe it or not, I'll dig your eyes out!" Sensing Koen's gaze, Regina fiercely glared at him. Then she said with a face full of disgust, "I have something to do later. Since you have enough money to take a taxi back, take care of your dinner yourself. If you don't have money, stay hungry!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she opened the door and left.
There was a smoldering look on Koen's face as he thought, we are legally married. So what if I look at my wife?
Besides, who says that I don't have money to eat? I am loaded now! Then Koen checked his balance again, got up, and left home as well.
He figured that since he was rich now, he deserved a treat. Therefore, he took a taxi and went to Fantasy Restaurant, the most famous restaurant in New York.
He arrived at the restaurant, pushed the door open, and was about to enter.
"May I know how many..."
Saniyah Hosea, the waitress, hurried to the door. Then she sized Koen up before finishing speaking.
Koen had been poor for years. Therefore, he wore a school uniform all year round, which had already been shabby and dirty with several patches.
"Go away! We are not short of waiters anymore!"
Saniyah thought Koen was some hobo here looking for a job. She frowned and waved her hand to drive him out.
"You got me wrong. I'm here for dinner. I'm by myself, and I want a box, thanks."
Koen thought, well, given what I'm wearing, I get it that others might read me wrong. So, I don't need to make things difficult for the waitress. After all, I just want to have a meal here.
"Yeah, right!" Saniyah rolled her eyes at Koen in disgust, her face full of disdain. "You loser, stop messing around here! We have other diners coming and going all the time!"
"Come on..."
Koen was about to speak again when Saniyah put on a bright smile and quickly walked past him towards a young man who had just entered the restaurant.
The young man was wearing a Gucci jacket and had a Louis Vuitton bag under his arm, and the gold chain around his neck was even more eye-catching. Such a man, in Saniyah's eyes, was someone who could afford to pay the bill at Fantasy Restaurant. Of course, she ignored Koen at once.
"Sir, may I help you?"
"I want the best box. And bring me all the good dishes you have here. Don't get me those cheap ones!" the man said in a loud voice.
Saniyah's eyes lit up. She led the man inside and said, "Sure thing, sir. I'm on it!" When she passed Koen, she mouthed to him to get out. Meanwhile, the man saw Koen, too, and there was a contemptuous look in the man's eyes.
"Wait. I'm here earlier than him."
Koen was irritated enough since he had been given the cold shoulder from the moment he entered the restaurant until now. Now that he was kicked out, he was even more furious. He grabbed Saniyah's wrist.
"Why are you still here?" Saniyah was full of disdain. She got rid of his hand with great force, immediately turned to the man next to her, and said apologetically, "Sir, just a second. We have a troubler here. I'll deal with him now, and it won't take long."
The man waved at Saniyah, walked to the waiting area alone, crossed his legs, and sat down on the sofa. Apparently, he was ready to watch the show.
He thought, you loser. You have the guts to make trouble at Fantasy Restaurant. You are doomed!
"Are you nuts? The man is an honored guest here. He has a reservation," Saniyah said, having a sharp tongue.
"Reservation my ass! You are just a snob! With your attitude, I can say for sure that this restaurant will close sooner or later!" Koen said bluntly.
He thought, I got it. From the moment I entered the restaurant, she has always looked down on me. What the fuck? The poor don't even have the right to eat? Who says so?
"What's going on?" George Thomson, the manager was inside, and he walked out quickly when he heard the commotion in the hall.
"Saniyah, what's the matter with you? I was just gone for a while. What if other diners are disturbed?"
At the sight of George, Saniyah fiercely glared at Koen and ran to George. "Mr. Thomson, someone is here causing trouble. I'll kick him out now."
Only then did George see Koen. He looked Koen up and down and slowly said, "Sir, what's your business here?"
Although he addressed Koen as "sir", anyone who wasn't deaf could tell how cold George's tone was.
"Eat!" Koen's voice was not loud, but he was full of confidence.
"Sir, we can only be at your service after you pay. Is that OK?" George glanced at Koen coldly and sneered silently. George thought, Come on! People like you always leave with your tails between your legs the minute you hear the prices of the food here. I don't have to waste my time with you at all.
