chapter 1

POV:

"Ma'am Shai, we've run out of chocolate waffle cake... We've had a lot of people, so some people have taken out."

"it's fun... okay next time we'll have more." I said in a happy tone.

Who doesn't... it's one of the things that makes me happy. the customers enjoy the bakes and cakes.. it makes the heart grow fonder.

My world revolves around this little cafe... Even though it's small compared to other cafes. The three are happy as employees.. The three are working students and are studying in college.

I want to help them, I want them to graduate... So when I have a surplus income. It is done to them. In addition to their allowance... I don't want them to be like me.

Because I didn't graduate.. I didn't finish any course.. I only went to 2nd year college. That's why daddy looked down on me even more. Aunt Vanessa underestimated me even more.

it's good that Geo is there... He always lightens my heavy days..he is a witness to all my suffering. And he accepted me for who I was.

Geo and I have known each other since high school. we became friends and then after 1 year he confessed that he likes me then he left me.....it was our senior high graduation and I answered him.

I'm so happy to have him in my life..

"Ma'am shai Sir Geo is outside." said Lyka with a faint smile..

"Ma'am brought flowers.. Nakss." Arrah said excitedly.

Hey there they are again..

"Madam's okay. Alright, we'll take care of it." said Jes, who had just come from the storage room.

"Fine, you take care of it... Jes, Arrah, just call me in case of an emergency.. Ok?" I told her while fixing the clothes I was wearing.

"yes ma'am shairah..." when they agreed...

"enjoy your date ma'am..." Jes added and I even heard their laughter before leaving

hey that's really cute..

When I got out, the man standing with a flower bouquet in his hand appeared to me...

"Why are there still Pa flowers?" I asked here as he handed me the bouquet.. But deep inside my heart was celebrating.

"Isn't it forbidden to give the most beautiful creature in the world?" he said as he reached out to kiss my hand.

"You really..." I pinched his nose and kissed him on the cheek.

"thanks geo" he smiled sweetly and guided me..

"Can I be your boyfriend.." he kissed my forehead and we started walking.

it's good that he had time... Because he's been busy lately because of their business. Because they had a branch in Cebu so they went out of town.

"how are you?" I asked when we got into his car.

"It's fine... By the way, Coleen told me that you agreed to go with her to the birthday party."

That girl is really chatty.. I said don't say it.

"Yes, he can't resist..." I said here..

"When I was a nanny, you didn't want me.. I sulked." she mumbled making me smile..

I kissed him on the cheek which made him smile..

"Don't be sulky.. I'm hungry." he nodded and started the car...

we are in an expensive restaurant now. I'm just wearing a blouse and a flower skirt. So I'm a little shy. the ones we meet are wearing expensive dresses..

I was not informed that we will be eating at this restaurant...

"Geo let's eat with someone else... because my soot is embarrassing." I whisper here.

"love, no matter what you wear you're still beautiful.. so you don't need to be shy." he said softly and our hands tightened.

I smiled when he said... bolero

when the elevator opened, a staff greeted us.

"Good evening Ma'am, sir" he greeted.

"George Lopez" said Geo to the staff...

so he made a reservation earlier.

"Ma'am, Sir this way..."

we just followed the staff until we stopped at a table that was only for two...

I was about to pull Geo's seat when someone called him.

"Mr. Lopez!!"

we looked at a table and my eyes widened when I saw Don Vhaldric and he was not alone.

"love, can we join them?" he asked me in a very charming tone..

"Of course.." I answered and he pulled me in that direction.

it's supposed to be our date but it's fine... i understand.

" Good evening Don Vhaldric.. " Geo greeted and bowed politely so I followed suit.

"good evening."

"Good evening to you too, it looks like---" Don Vhaldric was interrupted when his gaze landed on me.

"Ms. Gamorah is that you?"

I smiled and nodded for answer. I'm glad that he still recognized me after all these years.

If you haven't asked Don Vhaldric Locksward one of the reasons why I was able to study in high school in a famous School. I didn't pay a cent. Because Don Vhaldric answered everything... I promised my self that when I graduate from high school, I will stand up for myself if I don't rely on Don Vhaldric's kindness. I am ashamed to accept his offers.. he must have given me too much help. it's embarrassing. Grandpa gives me an allowance while Don Vhaldric pays my tuition fee. He also bought reference books. That's why I owe a lot to him and my grandfather... without them I wouldn't be able to graduate from high school..

I was just looked down upon in college...

"How are you Don Vhaldric?" hello here...

"I'm fine ijja... you two sit down. Join us."

I just noticed that he had two companions... I smiled and bowed a little to show my respect for Don Vhaldric's two companions.

"have a seat..." Don Vhaldric repeated

Geo and I looked at each other... he just squeezed my hand while smiling before letting go and pulling a chair... he sat next to me.

the table is round so you can really see everyone's face freely.

I looked at the two companions of Don Vhaldric one by one and I was stunned when my eyes landed on the man with gray eyes.

I froze for a moment when our eyes met... Those eyes look really familiar.

I immediately looked away from him when Don Vhaldric spoke.

"Ijja, how are you? What course did you finish?" this question made me cringe.

When talking about that stuff... I feel down about myself. I feel like the word failure is attached to me..

"Don Vhaldric, Shairah hasn't finished her course yet, but she's fine." Geo answered.

Suddenly the surroundings became quiet.

I don't know if I will be happy or annoyed with him. the way he says nothing is finished, it's like I'm shrinking myself..

"she had a valid reason for sure..." a baritone voice just broke the silence..

I looked up and looked at him... who was also looking at me...

My heart beat faster..

He was just looking straight into my eyes... as if he knew me well.

I quickly dodged and looked at Don Vhaldric when he spoke.

"I'm sorry for asking those things ijja, I didn't mean it."

"it's ok Don Vhaldric... I don't think it's a big deal..." I lied.

I'm really hurt deep inside... I remember the words daddy said in front of me when he found out I stopped...

it's good that they changed the topic. This is related to business.. When the order came I was just eating quietly. all five of us sitting at a table but only three talking.

I can't even turn around because I can feel his eyes on me... Why is he staring at me? I'm nervous.

"love, are you ok?" Geo asked almost in a whisper... he grabbed my hand that was holding a spoon.

I was about to answer his question when something suddenly broke...

we all stood up.

"Son, are you alright? Don Vhaldric asked the man with clenched fist while staring intently at me... at me???

There was blood on his hand and there were bruises on the table from the broken champagne

why can he look at me like that? Did I do something wrong?

"I'm fucking fine old man..." the anger was obvious in his voice... he stood up violently and walked away.

"Son!!" called Don Vhaldric but the man ignored him and actually left.

"I'm sorry for my son's behavior... he's just going through something." the sadness in Don Vhaldric's voice.

"it's fine Don Vhaldric..." Geo answered

We said goodbye that we are going home, so now we are traveling.

to this day I still can't get out of my mind what happened earlier... Is he that problematic? he didn't even feel pain from the wounds he received on his hand. And why can he look at me like that?? as if it was my fault for him... is he really Don Vhaldric's son?? because his dad is super smart.. Far away from him.

Well I don't want to judge right away.. maybe he's just going through something really heavy like Don Vhaldric said... But that's not enough reason for him to curse his own father...

"love, are you listening?"

"Huh??"

"You're not listening to me, are you?"

Hey, why am I still thinking about that... that's why I didn't listen to Geo.

"I'm sorry... because I can't get my mind off what happened earlier." I said making him sigh.

he stopped the car on the side of the road and looked at me.

"I'm sorry if our date didn't work out... then you witnessed it." His voice was soft and he lightly held my hand.

"There's still a next one.. so it's ok." I will answer here. I was suddenly curious. Did they know each other when Don Vhaldric's son?

"Geo, do you know each other?" I ask here.

"Is that Don Vhaldric's son?" he asked me again.

"Yes... Is he really like that? I mean I don't want to judge him right away. But the way he behaved earlier"

"I don't know him... but many people say that's exactly how he behaves."

"Are you sure you don't know him?"

"love, I just saw him in person. Why did you ask?"

nothing...alright Geo take me. Maybe later the darkness will overtake you on the way." I said differently.

He nodded and started the car again..

They don't know each other, But why can he look at us like that?.. At me?

what a waste of his handsomeness if his behavior is like that. I hope he changes his behavior so that he won't answer Don Vhaldric like that anymore... his father is so good.
