NOT ENOUGH

You promised to catch me when I try to fall. To answer me ten times when I call you once. To be there for me when I need you. You promised to be my hero. You just dumped me in the middle of an ocean when you know that I can't swim. How could you be so heartless when you know that you mean the whole world to me and now that I have lost you, I feel empty? You made me fulfilled but now am all alone. Without you am incomplete. You taught me everything, how to live, how to laugh, how to love, how to cry, and how to be happy but when you leave, you forget to teach me how to live without you.

How could you do this to me? Did you ever love me? You played me for seven good years. You waste my youth for me, why?

"See Amanda I'm sorry okay? I'm getting married to your sister, she's the one I want to get married to not you"

"Can you honestly answer me? All the years that we have been together. Did you ever love me?"

"See I'm sorry, that I deceived you all these years"

"Look into my eyes and answer me, Charles"

"pity? No Charles you love me. How much is my family paying you for this? Are you going to sacrifice our love for money, are you?"

"l know that I messed up but can you please stop forcing yourself on me? Live your life and let me live mine. at least appreciate the seven years I made you feel loved. I tried okay and you have nothing to offer me, Your sister does. At least I will take over your father's company with her after our wedding"

"Charles you are a monster, you are heartless. How could you look me in the eyes and say all those things"

"That's the truth. Truth is always bitter that's what they say. No one will love you, you are unlovable. Your family did not even love you. You are supposed to be grateful for the love I showed you for seven years. It is not easy for me too. So stop crying on me, and please I don't want to talk about this again. I don't want your sister to be angry with me and our wedding is next week"

She couldn't take it anymore and slapped him

"You will regret this. All of you!!"

"What's going on here? Amanda why did you slap your sister's fiance"

"Dad, how could you people do this to me? Charles and I have been dating since high school and you know it. Just last month we came to you for your blessing and to choose the date for the wedding. You said no" she cried bitterly

"Oh come on Amanda, don't be a brat. Kate is your sister. And Charles is what she wants. She's your younger sister for crying out loud"

"How could you people treat me as if am not a human? Why did you people keep on breaking me every time? No one cares how I feel, no one cares if am dying. The only thing that matters to me, the only thing that I have remaining you want to take it away."

"Stop this stupid talk of yours and be reasonable"

"reasonable? I'm your daughter's Dad. Show me care even if it is one percent. Please don't take Charles away from me. He's all I have left. Please, Dad. There are handsome men out there who can even expand your company that Kate will choose from. Please note the man I have loved for seven good years"

"You see Amanda you have said it yourself. So leave your sister alone and go out there and look for a man. How can you be dragging a man with your sister? You slut"

She turned to Charles crying and begging him not to leave her. Charles just stands looking at her with no pity. No one cares about how she feels no one wants to know if she's in misery. Mrs. Martha, the cook was standing beside the pillar watching what was going on with tears in her eyes. She has been their cook for the past 15 years. She watched the Connor children grow. Amanda has known nothing but pain while growing up. She was her mother's perfidy. No one loved her even her mother. Mrs. Martha noticed that for the past seven years, Amanda was happy. No matter how they treated her she just looked at her phone and smiled. She was happy for her then that she had found happiness.

As Mr. Connor drags Charles away, Mrs. Martha rushes to Amanda and hugs her. Amanda wept painfully.

"Mrs. Martha, did I deserve this? They have taken everything away from me"

"It's okay"

"It's not okay. They took my job, and now my happiness. He promised me that he would love and stand for me. We were preparing for our marriage. We were going to register tomorrow and then plan for the wedding later in the future."

Mrs. Martha did not even know what to say. The only thing she knows that she can offer her, it's a shoulder to cry on.
