I was nervous as I walked towards the stately mansion. My heart was beating wildly, and my hands were shaking slightly. I could hardly believe that I had been chosen to play such an important role. Being Nathan's rental girlfriend, a millionaire heir, was something I never imagined for myself.

I was about to enter a completely unknown world. The opportunity for an entirely new life was before me, and I was determined to seize it with all my might. My name is Isabella, I am an ambitious young woman and I grew up in a modest neighborhood, dreaming of a life full of luxury and wealth. And now, finally, I was about to take the first step towards that dream.

Fate led me to Nathan, a handsome and charming man, heir to one of the richest families in the city. He needed a girlfriend to please his traditional family, and I was perfect for the part. I had been selected to be Nathan's rental girlfriend, the person who would accompany him to social events and make his family believe that he had finally found the right woman.

It was a convenience-based arrangement. Nathan wanted to escape the pressures and expectations of his family, while I sought to move up the social ladder and achieve the life I had always wanted. I was fully aware that my role was temporary, just a carefully planned charade. But that didn't stop me from being nervous when it came time to meet Nathan.

When I entered the house, I was greeted by an elegantly dressed maid. She led me through the sumptuous halls and into a luxurious living room. There, I found Nathan, a handsome and charming man, who looked at me with a mixture of surprise and interest.

"Nathan, this is Isabella," the maid announced.

He rose and extended his hand in greeting. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Isabella."

"The pleasure is all mine," I replied, trying to hide my nervousness.

Nathan explained that his family was putting pressure on him to find a suitable marriage partner. That's when the idea of renting a girlfriend came up. He needed someone to play this role temporarily, someone who could fit into the luxurious world they lived in. And somehow he thought I was the right person for it.

As we talked, I realized that Nathan was more than just a rich man. He was smart, charismatic and kind. I was drawn to his endearing personality and his determination to live life his way, despite his family's expectations.

After some time talking Nathan informed me that we were going to meet his family, if I was nervous to meet him, imagine meeting his family that fast? I was in total despair.

We arrived at a beautiful condominium, the house was an imposing mansion, full of elegant furniture and valuable works of art. Wealth oozed from every corner, and I felt like an intruder in a world that wasn't mine. Nathan held my hand tightly, as if he knew how uncomfortable I felt. He led me into a luxuriously decorated living room, where his parents and siblings were waiting for us.

The introduction was quick and formal. Nathan made the proper introductions, mentioning my name and my supposed profession. I tried to keep a confident expression on my face, but my knees shook slightly under the appraising gaze of Nathan's family. His parents, especially his mother, were extremely traditional and had high expectations for their son's future. I knew I needed to convince them that I was the right choice for Nathan, even if it was all a sham.

During dinner, conversations flowed around me. I made an effort to keep up with matters, to appear interested and polite. And, little by little, I began to feel more comfortable in that sophisticated environment. We talked about art, travel and social events. Nathan and I exchanged covert glances, aware of the game we were playing.

When dinner was over, Nathan got up and asked his parents for permission to show me around the mansion's gardens. It was a crucial moment, as it would be our opportunity to talk more intimately, away from the watchful eyes of the family. We walked through the immaculately manicured gardens, and the scent of flowers hung in the air.

Finally, when we found a secluded corner, Nathan took my hands and looked into my eyes. His blue eyes sparkled with a mixture of admiration and gratitude.

"Isabella, you're doing amazingly well. I'm amazed at how you fit into this world."

A shy smile formed on my lips. "Thank you, Nathan. I'm doing my best to fulfill the role I've been given."

He moved closer, his fingers gently caressing my cheek. "You have no idea how much I admire you. You are strong, smart and brave. And most of all, I am happy to have you by my side."

I got lost in those blue eyes, feeling my heart beat faster with every kind word he said to me. I knew it was just a hoax, but something inside me wished those words were true.

"I'm happy to be here too, Nathan. Let's make them believe we're perfect together."

Nathan hugged me, and for a brief moment, I allowed myself to believe that maybe this farce could turn into something real. I was determined to win my partner back, but in the midst of this appearance game, I knew the line between reality and lies could become increasingly blurred.
