It was a warm Thursday at the end of June, work was steadily busy. The drive thru had a line up and Emma was trying to get everyone through as efficiently as possible. At this point she was already exhausted and just wanted to go home. A dark blue Chrysler pulled up to the window and she opened it. She started reading out their order to them "One medium blue raspberry misty slush, one cherry misty slush, two crispy chicken ranch wraps and a four piece sauced and tossed with ranch for your dip?"
"Yes, that's us." the driver said
"Twenty four dollars and forty-five cents"
"Card please," the driver said reaching for the passengers phone. After tapping the payment device button she held the machine out the window.
"Here you are." Now with a closer look at the passenger she thought they looked familiar. Emma said with much enthusiasm "Macy?!?! Did you cut your hair?"
Seeming a little taken aback from what was just said he replied "I am not Macy" and the two people in the vehicle began laughing. Embarrassed, Emma quickly closed the window. She walked over to the expo station and began quickly bagging their food. At the window Carrie was handing out their drinks and chatting with them. Emma walked back over to the window with the food in her hand. Emma opened the window once more and handed the paper bag to the driver.
"Thank you," the driver said, trying to hold back her laughter.
"Of course, you two have a good day, I'm also very sorry for mistaking you for Macy," Emma said in an apologetic voice obviously directing it towards the young gentleman in the passenger seat.
" It's fine," he replied. They drove away and Emma continued helping the line in the drive thru. Although she kept efficiently doing her job she couldn't help but feel a little guilty and down right embarrassed for mistaking the customer for Macy.
"You're mine, little puppy," Kylan growled against my neck. A soft gasp escaped my lips as his lips brushed my skin. My mind screamed at me to push him away-the Lycan Prince who had humiliated me again and again, but my body betrayed me, leaning into him before I could stop myself. He pressed his lips against mine, and his kiss grew more aggressive, more possessive as I felt my legs weaken. What was I doing? In a split-second, I pulled away and slapped him hard across the face. Kylan's eyes darkened, but the smirk on his lips exposed his amusement. "You and I both know we can't fight this, Violet," he said, gripping my wrist. "You're my mate." "And yet you don't want me," I replied. "You told me you were ashamed of me, that l'd never be your queen, that you'd never love me. So please, accept my rejection and let me go." "Never," he whispered, his grip tightening as he pulled me closer. "Soon enough, you'll be begging for me. and when you do-I'll use you as I see fit and then I'll reject you."
