Chapter 1 First encounter

May carefully went through the list she was handed by Aunt Kiki her mom's best friend. She was meant to be shopping with Amanda her best friend and Aunt Kiki's daughter but she was probably in the confectionery area of the mall watching Jude from afar.

May picked up a pineapple for her mom who was currently occupying a ward at the Town's general hospital with a dislocated arm and some open cuts. She was there through the actions of May's father.

Their family was an intriguing one on the outside they presented a solid font of a happy satisfied family who lived in one of the most popular and reserved district in the town but very few knew the mess that became of her family once the doors were closed and the blinds drawn.

Her father was a chronic gambler and alcoholic. May had learnt from an early age that her family only stayed together for their image. She couldn't count how many times her mom had gotten beaten up but hid it and continued with this mess of a marriage.

Lost in her thoughts May failed to realise that some items had fallen from the filled up cart she was pushing along.

Someone tapped her shoulder from behind and she swiftly turned around her long black braids whipping the person in the face.

"I'm very sorry are you okay" she quickly asked as the guy in front of her placed his palm over his right eye.

"Yh yh I think your hair briefly entered my eye. Here you dropped this" May attention was drawn to the items in his left hand she turned around to her cart and realised those items were actually missing.

Accepting the items from his outstretched hand she quickly placed them in the cart. "Thank you I guess I wasn't paying attention."

"Yh sure" May took In the skull ring on his finger to the black leather jacket and silver stud earrings. She realized she had never seen him before in this side of the town.

" Do you live around?" She asked her inquisitive side taking over.

"Just relocated 3 days ago" he said hands in his pocket now.

"Nice I guess I'll see you around one of these days then" May replied with a smile before strolling away thinking back on how she was drawn in by the sound of his voice. She payed attention to the cart this time around.

May just checked out all the items and was carrying loads in both hands about to head out in search of Amanda so they could head for home when she noticed a commotion in the female boutique area of the mall. It was close to the confectionery area so she decided to just go peek for a moment and get the gist involved.

She approached the crowd and tried to get a view of what was happening whilst holding on to all three bags she finally was able to see squeezing her self in the midst of those people.

The cause of the commotion was a group of girls fighting well it couldn't really be called a fight. Four girl were hitting and scratching a single girl who was on the floor no one bothered to attempt to separate them and for good reasons instead they pulled out their phones to record.

May recognised the four girls as Jennifer the Queen bitch and her loyal dogs. She couldn't recognise the girl bring beat up. Jennifer was the only daughter of the Kingsley family they could easily be taken as the richest in this small. For this reason no one dared to go against the spoilt princess.

May noticed that the poor girl was barely breathing and no longer resisting. She looked around for any signs of security approaching but they were no where to be found. One thing was sure though if they continued to hit the poor girl permanent damages would be made.

She stood conflicted for a minute doubting if she should intervene and get her self involved in this mess- a totally unwanted scenario- or leave the girl to her fate.

Taking a deep breath May decided on the former and moved into the circle formed by onlookers.

"Hi... can you guys please leave her already" she said feeling awkward the attention of the crowd was now on her. The light from multiple phones reminded her that she was being recorded.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Jennifer asked her arms folded on her chest.

May could feel her self break out in cold sweat last thing she needed was to get into a fight with these girls.

"I didn't mean it that way just that she might get badly hurt if you continue" May looked at the girl who managed to sit up her face had an expression of shock and fear.

Jennifer took steps towards May and it took every thing for her not to step back and cower outnumbered she looked back at the girl she initially made attempts to save but the girl was scurrying away pushing the crowd aside. Without warning Jennifer pushed her with both arms and May felt her self lose balance all of a sudden she waited to feel her back and head make contact with the floor but that never happened.

She slowly opened her tightly shut eyes trailing them up the leather Jacket of the person holding her till her eyes met with that of her saviour the cute guy from earlier.
