When Sophia finds out that her sister is getting married to the man who cheated on her best friend with her, she is furious. To appear less bitter and less pitiful after an argument with her sister, she foolishly makes up a boyfriend who she could invite to her wedding and present to her family. The only person who could possibly save her from embarrassment is her man whore of a neighbor, Ethan. Sophia despises Ethan to the utmost. Every night she hears him bring a different girl home, yet he still makes an attempt to flirt with her on a daily basis. When Ethan unexpectedly plays along to pretend dating, the two get close and soon start to develop feelings towards each other. Sophia is reluctant, considering Ethan's sexual past. Forcing Ethan to work harder to prove he is the right man for her.
"Married?!" I pushed myself out of my seat.
"Sophia, please sit down," my mother said in a soft concerned tone. I immediately regretted my sudden dramatic action from my seat.
"You're getting married?" I said, in shock.
Married.
Married, my sister was getting married, and to that lying bastard.
Adam Scott, Rachel's ex-boyfriend. Since we were young, Rachel Samson was both of our best friends until one night, I got drunk and ended up in bed with her boyfriend.
To make it worse, Adam went for my younger sister when I told him I no longer wanted to see his face ever again. That's right. He turned both of the McAdams sisters into his mistresses at some point.
You could only imagine how shameful that was, and because of that I've changed. I told Rachel everything and went clean. I completely accepted all the consequences that I deserved to face, and worked my way to be a better person. Up to this day, that one bad decision continues to bite me in the ass.
Marriage?
"How could you do this to Rachel?" I hissed venomously at my sister.
She rolled her soft blue eyes as she pushed a strand of her seductive dark red hair off her shoulder.
"Honestly, Sophia, you're acting like a teenager besides they broke up like two years ago." she said as if it were suppose to lessen the betrayal our best friend felt "He was Rachel's fucking boyfriend!" I shouted, balling my fists at my sides.
"You know Rachel?" I asked her. "Rachel Adams, the girl who slapped your high school bully, the girl who held your hair up while you puked on the toilet when you were too drunk," I said.
"Of course! The very same Rachel that doesn't even wanna talk to you anymore. You guys aren't even friends! So why does it fucking matter to you?" She fought back at me.
It's true. Rachel no longer spoke to me after my betrayal to her, which was completely understandable and expected.
"Let's not forget, your betrayal towards her too! Are you seriously trying to be a good friend or are you just jealous that Adam stayed with me instead of you?" She hissed at me.
"Girls! Stop this," my mom warned us. I ignored her and narrowed my eyes with absolute anger at Stacy, my younger sister, who sat in the comfortable seat in our parents' living room without a single sign of regret or even sympathy, which I don't want.
What I want is to smash her perfectly straight and may I add, fake nose against the mahogany table that my Auntie gave to my mom as a wedding present.
"I cannot believe you're standing by her." I said to my mom hurt by her lack of empathy. "Mom, this is embarrassing. Stacy is marrying a man who turned her into a mistress," I said.
"I'm gonna be his wife!" She screamed at me, defending herself.
My mother's honeysuckle eyes softened "Sweetheart, can you please let this go? This is my youngest daughter's wedding,"
The pleading in her words tugged at my heart as guilt washed over me but vanished when Stacy opened her big cock sucking mouth. "Oh my god! Sophia, why can't you be happy for me?" she asked me.
"Is this because you never kept a boyfriend and you're mad at me for getting married first? Your younger sister?" She said, making me slap her across her face.
"I hate you!" She whined stomping her expensive heels against the shaggy rug. I fought the temptation to tackle her and pull her clearly dyed hair out of her face, clenching my teeth.
her adorable small head.
"This whole situation led Rachel to move out of the country! Our best friend doesn't wanna talk to us anymore!" I screamed.
It was no secret that Stacy was a first class whore who slept with whoever to get whatever pleased her greedy heart. Stepping forward I could have laughed when Stacy leaned back, a look of fear flashing in her eyes.
"Are you doing this cause Adam has money? Do you really love him?" I asked. "You and Rachel were always the type of girls who couldn't satisfy a man enough for him to stay," she scoffed.
She's right about that, but that's because I'm the type of woman to satisfy myself first before any man. "Why him? Out of all guys," as I spoke I heard my voice crack with emotion.
"But I really want you to be at my wedding, Sophia and I was thinking of making you my maid of honor," she said leaning further back. My jaw hung open, does she think before she speaks or do the words fly out of her mouth like men out of her bed?
Stacy always said stupid things but this just takes the cake. How fucking stupid can she be to even say that out loud? I could have laughed if I weren't so pissed off at this whole damn situation.
"Oh honey..." my mom said, clapping her hands together excitedly "Isn't that wonderful sweetie, you're the maid of honor," she smiled at me.
"About as wonderful as if I chainsawed my leg off," I replied sarcastically.
One might wonder why I'm so bitter about this wedding. Adam wasn't even my boyfriend. It is true that Rachel has always been more of a sister to us more than we were to each other. And everyone might be right, I am bitter because my younger sister is getting married before me but that's a small part of it.
Truthfully speaking, it's because looking at Adam's face reminded me of what I had done to Rachel. I know it wasn't just me who committed the crime, but the reminder hurts. Rachel wouldn't even talk to me anymore/
Both my mom and sister didn't seem surprised at my sour attitude but how did they want me to react? Jump up excitedly and congratulate Stacy's engagement to Adam pretending Rachel hadn't set her heart on marrying that prick? Adam made me feel like a low class whore, and that's what he's doing to my sister right now. So blow me if I'm overreacting but I have a damn good reason.
"Sweetie, can you please try to be happy for your baby sister,"
"Yeah stop being a whining bitch for once in your life. Then maybe, you could find a man," Stacy said folding her arms over her chest adding attention to the diamond ring on her slender finger.
"Stacy!" my mom scolded.
"For your information I do have a man, "I blurted out the lie. Stacy arched her thin brow and pursed her lips, detecting my fib. "Then who is he?" She asked me.
"He lives in my building we've been dating for awhile." I replied refusing to back down.
"Liar," she laughed standing up so we were nearly eye to eye.
"Then why haven't you mentioned him before?"
"Because unlike you I don't need the spotlight on me," I said, with a smile on my face.
"Oh honey! When do we get to meet him?" My mother smiled at me.
And that was the moment I realized I was in trouble.
