Love's Venom

Love they say is really beautiful thing, oh yeah.. that's true, however, for love to happen, lots of sacrifices has to be made, but what happens when those sacrifices becomes too difficult a sacrifice to make, what then should we do?

XS airplane landed safely at exactly 2:00pm on Zea city's airport with all passengers alighting. Among the passengers was a young lady holding her purple coloured travelling box, she was wearing a black fitted knee length gown, with a blue down jacket and a dark shade which covers her dark-inked eyes. It was winter already, and as soon as she got off the plane, the cold wind blew towards her, assaulting her skin -more like the city saying welcome to her. She stood still looking round the entire place as though trying to pick out all of the little details of the surroundings. Memories crept in, and she could vividly recall standing in front of a plane preparing to leave the country. It been five long years and she haven't stepped foot on the soil of this city. She never believed she would be able to return back to a place which showed her the most cruel part of her existence. She was no longer the young, naive, vulnerable girl from years back who could only scream and cry while the people and things she loved were been taken away from her. She was back this time to demand explainations from the family that abandoned her and exert her revenge supposedly on the people who defiled her and took her mother away from her. Lots of thoughts kept running through her mind and she couldn't help but sighed, just then her phone rang disturbing her train of thought.

"Mr George??...yes...I just arrived ..okay I'll leave that up to you" she hanged up and walked towards the parking lot.

Standing in front of a sliver porch was a young man dressed in a well poised suit, as soon as he sighted the young lady approaching, he went towards her

"Miss Brooke" he greeted, taking her bag and opening the door of the car for her to climb in.

The car drove steadily on the road heading towards the vast west of the city, after what seems like forever, the sliver porch steered slowly onto the grounds of a majestic manor, with a quiet squeal, the car slid to a stop before the front door of the manor and the young lady got down from the car, as soon as she got for down she heard the vibrating sound of her phone indicating an incoming message. she picked up the phone, reading the content of the message she let out a sly smile.

Alexia stood in front of the very tall building, it was a twenty story office building with Cobb's global written at the top of it, she had just received an email the previous day saying her application for internship program has been approved, hence she had to resume today

*In the CEO's office,

"I think you should let one of the new interns work directly under you as your assistant" Clinton said,

"I can manage by myself" Elliot responded

"I'll certainly not advice for that, I'll be gone for a whole five months and you know been the CEO of a very big company like this ain't gonna be easy, come on you need an extra hand" Clinton said.

"I have over two hundred staffs working under me Clint, what other hands do I possibly need" Elliot shrugged,

"You need an assistant, a personal assistant, that is the extra hands you need" Clinton said

Elliot Cobb is the CEO of Cobb's global and Clinton Comte , his assistant as well as his best friend. Clinton has to go for a family trip, his mother just got out from a surgery and needs to recuperate somewhere in Africa and the whole family is supposed to go with her, the doctor says it would help her recover better. He would be away for five months, so he tried to convince his friend to get one of the intern to be his new assistant.

"Alright let's say only five months, she'll intern under you for just five months, at least untill I get back" Clinton said

"What the.." Elliot snapped "why is the intern a 'she' and not a 'he'? You of all people know how I don't like ladies around me" he said knitting his brows at Clinton

"Hey, I know how you feel about the opposite sex but trust me I've looked into this one and I assure you she won't be as annoying as the rest plus, she's the best qualified candidate among all the interns available" Clinton explained.

"Just for two months Clint", Elliot said. He was not going to let a female be his assistant for five months,

"What then happens to the remaining three months" Clinton asked exasperated,

"The HR would interview some qualified MALES and get me an assistant" Elliot responded placing more emphasis on the word Male

"And what if they find no one??"

"They will Clint, don't be such a jinx" Elliot responded

Alexia got into the lobby and walked towards the well dressed lady who seems to be like the receptionist sitted behind one of the desk

"Good morning ma'am" she greeted

"Good morning Miss, are you perhaps one of the new interns" the lady asked

"Yes ma'am" Alexia responded

"Take the elevator to the 12th floor, there's a conference Hall by your right the CEO would address you guys in a few minute " the lady said

Alexia took the elevator to the 12th floor and got into the conference room. She entered the room and found other interns already sitted at a round table, almost all the chairs were taken with the exception of a chair at the head of the table, two extra chairs at both it right and left side and a chair directly opposite it. After a slight consideration Alexia decided to take the sit opposite the the chair at the head of the table
