Because of the gloom that fell over our castle following the passing of my mother and the fact that I saw my stepmother's two children taking me through misery, many have referred to me as the "Daughter of Darkness." It is a fact that I have had a very challenging existence, starting with the time I spent as a slave and ending in the day when they attempt to take one of my kidneys from my body. I was under the impression that my suffering would come to an end when I wed Damien, a member of the mafia who was only in it for himself, but the reality was that I was about to experience the worst moment of my life. My whole life changed once I became friends with Emma, who was the only child Damien had. My life was filled with so much sadness when I shared a house with someone who put himself first. This continued until the day Damien fell in love with me, at which point the killers attempted to kill both of us and kill him. I had the mistaken impression that things would be a lot simpler for us until another woman walked into our territory and ruined our peace.

Chapter 1 Between Hell And Heaven

Take a look at the darkness that surrounds the garden. When the rain stopped, the water mirrored the dark sky, giving the impression that one was doomed to spend eternity in a pit of death (which was not the case). Following your parents' deaths, the castle will be filled with darkness, and the only things you will be able to purchase will be lunacy and the unflattering glances of strangers. When it is true that you may sometimes come across wonderful individuals while travelling, the darkness and evil that exists in people's hearts will ultimately bring the light to a grinding halt.

Despite the fact that the flowers have faded, the tears have dried, the sky has become dark, and the cold air has frozen my shattered heart, I am hopeful that the genuine and lovely person who comes into my life will possess the key that will enable it to thaw. When your mother's heart bleeds and your father's spirit leaves, the flames of love will flare in their hearts. Yes, I've given it the title "flame of vengeance" as it eats everything in its path. Once you're susceptible to retribution, it's conceivable that it will be stolen from you.

“Millie! The meal is ready” my mum screamed with her lovely voice, and I still have it in my ear every time I feel hungry and how many times I had that emotion. I’m Millie Fletcher, daughter of Mason Fletcher. I lived in a spacious castle with my two parents for many years. The finest memories were with my mom. She had the sweetest embrace in the world, my dad loved her so much, and really he was the driver of her castle before getting married with him since my mom came from a royal family. Through pain and brutality that I have witnessed from others, I always believed to myself that mum would protect me. She was my ego and my power. When I was staring at my mum, I was looking at the purest love I would ever know. She was my first best and lifelong friend and I had never considered that there would come a day when I will lose her forever.

Early in the morning, Madam Helen was making breakfast for the family, and my mother summoned me to the kitchen so that I could help.

"Greetings, there! Miss Millie, how was your night?" the narrator inquires. Madame Helen was the one who questioned. She was our maid and cook of the castle.

The event ran well and without a hitch! "Last night, I saw something awful and odd," says the witness. I expressed my point of view.

“Really? What exactly is it?" says the mother. My mother had questioned.

"It was all simply a dream. Crows were frequently seen in our garden, and one of them seemed to be staring at me.” I provided an answer. I was able to interpret what my mother and Helen were saying even though they were conversing in hushed tones so that I wouldn't hear what they were saying. Madame Helen responded to my mother's inquiry about whether or not this may be a portent of approaching calamity by saying it was all in my mother's head. My mother places a high value on dreams, particularly those expressed by children. She has a sneaking suspicion that something horrible is going to occur.

“What is it mum? Why are you so afraid of my dream?” I asked my mum and I remember that I was wondering, but my mum didn’t respond and she left the kitchen. Madame Helen came to me and asked to finish the breakfast before the arrival of my father. Few minutes later, when my father arrived with Philip, the husband of Madam Helen, and I were waiting in the garden for my father, when it started raining in the castle and I was playing with the cat, suddenly a soft touch on my back, and it was my father’s hand.

“What is my beautiful girl doing here in the rain?” my father said with a lovely voice. He was with Mr. Philip.

“The cat wants to play outside the castle, dad.” I replied and I was afraid that my dad would argue with me because of the rain. It was a stupid lie that Mr. Philip started laughing at me, “I think the cat wants now to enter in” Mr. Philip said.

My memories are so scattered everywhere, my mum’s voice, the dinner when we used to eat together and laugh about the cat when he wanted to steal the fish and Madame Helen was yelling at him. Those were my lovely memories. One night when I was reading a story about fairies my mum was sewing a dress and she put her hand on her right arm.

“Mum! What’s going on? Are you okay?” I asked and I was so scared that my mum is sick, but my mum was always like that strong woman, that doesn’t fear anything, and she replied” nothing my dear. Don’t worry.” She said but I felt sadness in her eyes and voice. All night, I was wondering about her and thinking what would happen if something wrong happened to my mum. All these worries were in the right place. My intuition was informing me but I didn’t give it any attention.

The next morning, it was a very sunny day when I went down to the kitchen but I didn’t find Madame Helen neither she nor my mum, so I ran quickly to my mum’s room and I found Madame Helen giving a cup of water and medicine. I was scared when I saw my mum on the bed and she was very sick.

“Don’t worry, my beautiful. Your mom will be okay after taking the medicine.” Madame Helen said but I could realise from her voice that she was sure about that. She was very scared and she couldn’t hide that from me.

Doctors come in and out of the castle frequently. They found a hard disease inside my mum.
