Story about an orphan trying to survive She dont believe in love
It was almost ten at night, I was dragging my sore feet back to my home. Many will not call it home but at least I have a roof over my head and source of clean water this is more than enough for me. With the salary I receive every month, I cannot afford even a normal 1 bedroom apartment. So I am currently renting a small a small basement room, courtesy of my landlord Ms Kepner. I got heater, a small bath, portable stove and bed.
I arrived at my home, unlocking my door, I quickly put my bag aside and jump on my bed.
I am super tired, I work multiple job, anything that can give me income. Today I work as cleaning lady at a very luxury hotel replacing one of their staff that currently on maternity leave. I have no qualification to get permanent job since I dropped out from high school right after my parent's death and I am not good at talking to people due to my severe anxiety disorder. I panicked easily and when I do, I forget how to breathe and pass out. Taking up gig as a cleaning lady is somehow suitable for me as I dont really need to interact with people.
I am 20 years old this year, I grown up well I am not too thin like barbie but some said I have a perfect curve. I have dark brown hair and honey gold eyes and a plump lips. I know if I make myself presentable I can be considered pretty or beautiful but I prefer wearing jeans and hoodies on daily basis. I dont even feel worthy to show my skin because it full of scars. Yes you heard me scars, a gift from my parent.
My late dad and late stepmother did numbers on me. I knew they hated me, dad said I am a trash, whore, while my step mother did was clapping along. Both of them physically and mentally abused me. Some day they would beat me, receiving slap and kick on my stomach was normal for me. Once he poured hot boiling water on me because I made mistake when I prepared his breakfast. There are few bruises from the hit I received using his belt. They normally avoid hitting on my face, nobody know or care about me after all. We were living like poor people do. Dad was a lorry driver while my stepmother was working in club. So when the police officer came to the house to let me know they both died in a car accident, I dont even know how to responds, I felt numb. To avoid from being taken away by child services I ran away the same night. I know where my stepmother stack her cash, so I just chuck everything and take the first bus to the city. I only brought along few photo of my real mom and me and 2 pair of clothes.
When I arrived I saw I was clueless as to where I should go, its a busy city. The money I have only enough to last me for a week that if I eat a piece of bread once a day.
On my second day, when I was looking around for a job I saw an old lady having difficulties to walk with her cane and the groceries she had. I decided to help her, the lady is Ms Kepner my landlord, she allow me to stay in the basement to show her gratitude. Which is more than enough compared to sleeping in the park when I first came to the city. Ms Kepner living in an apartment complex in an old poor neighbourhood in outskirt of the city. She is a retired teacher and basically own the whole building, the apartment has around 6 small apartment including one she live by herself. She did not ask for any rent from me living in the basement so I decided to occasionally help her, for buying her groceries, cleaning and cooking which she seem satisfied with me.
I open my wallet checking the bills left, I will always set aside few bucks for my daily needs and bus fare. the rest of my salary I keep in the bank as I want to prepare if in case anything happen I have enough tp rent an apartment. I should have enough by now but I also need to set aside for my medical bill. I started to have bad migraine and my anxiety has gotten worse over time, so I paid a visit to doctor and was prescribed to take antidepressent and few others. Doctor diagnosed me with PTSD thanks to my abusive parent.
My real mother's name is Sarah Winston. I saw about her in newspaper. She is a wealthy CEO of an IT company. Dad told me that she was born an raise as a wealthy daughter and her parent did not approve their relationship because dad is only a small worker in Winston family, a year after their marriage I was born and she just left me with dad and go back to her wealthy family. It broke dad, so he unleash his bitterness and anger towards me plus as I grow up I look a lot like her and that angered him more. I have no memories with my real mother. She left me thats all that matter so I dont think she ever love the child like me. I was always hoping that she has her own reason whatever it is but not once she ever came back. We had never move from our house so I stop believing in miracle, as dad always remind me, I am worthless no one love me, even my own mother abandon me. That is the reason I never try to look for her even we live in the same city.
