I shut my eyes deeply and sighed as I tried to sleep ...but no matter how I tried , it wasn’t possible ..nothing had ever been possible

How could I sleep with many thoughts running through my mind everyday..living through these years had been tough ,but I had no choice , it’s something I had been used to and I knew there was no point complaining

‘Tori!!!!!’ I heard my name in the darkness

It was no other person than Mammee, the scary landlady

I shook my head as I knew what she was calling me for..it’s been two years and I haven’t paid my rent , she’s been quite considerate , pitying my condition and granting me few months again but I knew she couldn’t keep up, my stay in her house without any payment has become something she couldn’t take any more

‘Toriiiii’!

I sighed and held my breath as I heard her footsteps near my door , she paused for a moment and after what seemed like years , she retreated and marched away

I breathed in relief and tiptoed to the door, locking it slowly and silently .

As I walked back , I fought the urge to cry as I blinked back a tear that threatened to drop..

I couldn’t cry , I couldn’t ...I had to be strong for my mom, something so small like this can’t break me down , I had been doing this for years, this was nothing

I breathed out slowly as i laid down and shut my eyes deeply

Though I knew it was of no use , I still hoped anyways and closed my eyes deeply hoping I would be able to sleep

And I didn’t know when I fell asleep
