This was the first time she had asked about her uncle, Cody Lou, since he passed away.
After Penny's biological parents died when she was still a child, she was taken in by the Lou Family. Aside from her grandmother, Willow, her late uncle had always treated her as his own child. However, she ran away from home a few years ago.
Cody had loved Penny and doted on her for more than ten years. However, her reaction to his death was extremely and surprisingly cold. She hadn't even shed a single tear for him until now.
A few moments later, Samuel parked the car outside the cemetery.
When the ignition was turned off, the humming sound stopped. The pattering sound of the torrential rain was the only thing that could be heard now.
Penny sighed deeply and got out of the car. Immediately her feet touched the muddy ground, she frowned as her shoes were stained.
She hated rainy days with every fiber of her being.
At this moment, a tall and thin man was standing in front of Cody's tombstone. He was wearing an expensive customized suit with a matching tie. A wine-red umbrella was over his head and its wooden handle was held in his powerful hand.
With her head raised, Penny glanced at the man and pursed her lips. Samuel stood beside her and asked in confusion, "Miss Lou, why aren't you going there?"
This question jolted her back to her senses. She opened her arms and said in a serious tone, "I can't move forward. The ground is filled with mud. I'm afraid that my feet would get dirty. You have to carry me over."
"Huh?" Samuel became stiff and looked at her with an embarrassed expression on his face. However, he couldn't refuse.
As soon as the man at the tombstone turned around, he saw Samuel giving Penny a piggyback.
She behaved like she was still a child. When she was young, she was the only one that was over-pampered by all the peers in the upper class.
Growing up, she was given a free hand to do whatever she wanted. The other children always rallied around her. Even if she pointed at the stars in the sky, someone would try all means to meet her demand.
Phillip Yu's face suddenly turned cold when he saw Samuel's blushed face as he walked painstakingly towards the tombstone.
A black umbrella was shielding them from the heavy raindrops.
Phillip strode towards them and ruthlessly pulled her down from Samuel's back.
This happened in the blink of an eye and none of them expected it.
Penny staggered and the muddy water splattered on her shoes. They became dirtier than before.
Phillip looked down at her. He had been a neat freak since childhood. Now he couldn't help but frown with disgust when he saw that her fair and slender legs were covered with small blobs of mud.
"You have come back after a very long time and you still haven't changed. Even in front of Uncle Cody's tombstone, you have no respect for the basic rules!"
Although they hadn't seen each other for three years, Phillip didn't hesitate to scold her for her misdemeanor.
Hearing his hostile words, Penny smiled, but the emotion in her eyes was so cold and frightening. She folded her hands over her chest and asked, "Did you just say rules? Don't you know that you are the last person on earth that has the right to talk to me about obeying the rules?"
With a vengeful glint in her eyes, Penny suddenly lifted her foot and stomped on the muddy ground and the mud splashed wantonly.
Several globules of mud appeared on Phillip's suit pant in a split second.
A sinister smile appeared at the corners of Penny's mouth as she stared at his stained suit pant. She was as cunning as a fox whose plan just worked.
Samuel's heart began to beat faster as he watched the scene. He was scared that they would have an altercation here.
After all, Phillip was no longer the isolated and helpless boy who was adopted and raised by the Lou Family.
He was now a powerful and successful man that no one dared to offend. Many things had changed over the years.
Nevertheless, Penny's perception of him hadn't changed. Even if everyone bowed at his feet like he was the Savior, she still saw him as the naive boy she grew up with.
At this moment, Phillip's blood boiled in his veins and his expression became gloomy. With his eyes narrowed, he stared deeply into her eyes.
Although the weather was so cold that people shivered, it seemed like heated sparks were clashing between these two people.
"I can't deal with your nonsense now. Let's honor Uncle Cody today. We have a lot of time to settle the old and new scores!"
