Beth and her girlfriend, and roommate Caitlin are in the middle of a journey across Australia, which began in Brisbane, and it will end at Caitlin parents' house in Perth. Caitlin is driving the Ford Mustang since they entered to South Australia territory; she is over thinking on how is going to tell to her parents the truth about the relationship in which she is involved for the past two years. She is terrified because her parents belong to a church that does not accept same-sex couples.
Unlike her Girlfriend, Beth is quiet; she is watching the stars through the window of the Mustang. The night sky in the middle of Australia is smog free; the stars can be seen with the naked eye. Beth smiles, and at the same time, she binds with her fingertips the stars on the surface of the window to make new constellations on her own. Beth`s blonde hair is blonder than ever, thanks to the light of the full moon that shines in the sky.
"I know what you're doing, Caitlin" Beth Said calmly.
"Huh, What?" Caitlin answered.
"You chose the road trip, because you want to delay the encounter with your parents... You are scared of them!"
"No...huh" Caitlin said.
"Yes, you are, I know you more than you know yourself"
"I really want to know Australia by road before I'm 21!"
"No, you're not. Stop lying to me! I don't like that..." Beth makes a pause, and then she says: "I mean, look at us; two lonely girls in the middle of nowhere just because you're scared of your own parents! Ridiculous! We could have taken a plane in Brisbane!"
"Ok, I'm sorry!" Caitlin replied embarrassed. She opens her hazel eyes and looks at Beth like a spoiled kitten.
"Don't look at me like that!" Beth said.
"Baby, you know them; you know that they will never be ok with us. We need to keep our relationship in secret!"
"No!" Beth answered quickly. "They deserve to know all the truth. They are your parents!"
"I hate when you act so right!"
Beth extends her hand and strokes Caitlin's hair. "Purr for me" Beth said.
"No!" Caitlin answered quickly.
"Ok, look! If they don't want to be ok with us, so be it. But, they must know the truth..."
"But, Why?! Why!?" Caitlin replied.
"Cause, I don't want to live on a lie! I don't deserve that... you don't deserve that! I want a serious relationship, a serious commitment"
"Are you serious?! You mean, like a marriage?" Caitlin asked nicely.
"I want to be with you forever" Beth answered.
"Me too"
"Stop the car! I want to kiss your right now!" Beth said.
Caitlin smiles and says: "On the next gas station, we almost out of gas!"
-----
Caitlin stops the car in a small gas station somewhere in the border between South and western territory. While the mustang is reloading with gasoline; the girls make good use of the wait; they began to kiss on hood of the car. Beth's blonde hair mixes with Caitlin's black hair in the same way that their tongues do it inside their mouths. Two employees of the gas station enjoy the scene; they look at the girl with morbid attention.
When the tank is full, Beth sits on the driver's seat, because Caitlin needs some time to rest, one employee of the station approximate to the girls to charge them for the gasoline. Beth extends her hand and gives him a 20 dollar bill.
"Keep the change, man" Beth said calmly. She stars the car.
"Wait!" He said.
"What?" Beth replied.
"What are you doing in this lonely place at this hour of the night?" He asked.
"We're going to Perth" Caitlin Answered.
"Shh!!" Beth replied violently to her girlfriend.
"What?!"
"He doesn't need to know that!!" Beth said to Caitlin.
"Oh, ok, ok... No! We're not going to Perth" Caitlin said to the man.
The employee smiles to the girls, and ask to them: "Why did you take this road? This is the longest way to go to Perth"
"Well, we..." Caitlin said.
"Well!" Beth Interrupts to Caitlin. "That does not concern to him!"
"Ok, ok" He answered "But, be careful girls, because, in this road strange things could happen"
Beth stars the car, and then she begins to nag to her girl: "You can't talk with your parents about us! But, when a strange man asks to you some personal questions you answered carefree! Amazing! "
-----
Half an hour has passed; Beth is still nagging Caitlin about what happened on the Gas station.
"Could you forget about that?" Caitlin said to Beth. "Jesus! Sometimes you are really annoying"
"Ah! So, you think I am annoying?! Huh?! "
"YEAH! Sometimes, you are a pain in my ass"
"Good to know! Good to know! " Beth said.
"I thought; the kiss will calm you for the rest of the trip, but I was wrong!"
"So, you kissed me to calm me down?!" Beth asked sarcastically.
"Yeah! Yeah! You are driving me crazy! It's been three month with the same old story: you must tell your parents the truth! Cut it off! Jesus!"
"I am tired living on a lie"
"Oh, my God" Caitlin said. She gets out of her pocket her cellphone, and says to Beth: "I will call my parents right now! To tell them the truth about us! Are you happy? Are you happy?!"
"Yes I am happy!" Beth screamed.
"I will do it, I mean it!"
"Do it, I'm watching you"
"Ok..." Caitlin dials her parent's number. Her mother answers the phone. "Hello mother... I have no time... yeah, yeah, I'm fine... you remember Beth... yeah, yeah... well, she's not only my roommate, she is my girlfriend... well... see ya!" Caitlin hangs the phone. "Are you happy now?!" She said to Beth.
"I am happy!" Beth answered defiantly.
Suddenly, Beth loses the control of the car.
"Oh my God" Beth screamed.
"What happen?"
"I can't control the car; it just turns off by itself!"
From nowhere, a little girl appears in the middle of the road. She is wearing a long white dress.
"Look out!!" Caitlin screamed, while she points out the girl with her finger.
Beth struggles violently with the rudder of the car to avoid hitting the girl. After 10 seconds, the car turns on again by itself. Beth finally can applies the brakes; the car avoids the little girl, and slowly stops on a side of a road.
Caitlin gets out of the car and runs to the girl. The little girl is about 10 or 12 years old, she's got long and straight hair and her eyes are blue.
"Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Are you ok?! Are you ok?!" Caitlin said to the little girl.
The girl is terrified.
Beth gets out of the car and runs to the little girl too.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't see you, sweetheart" Beth screamed.
"What are you doing by yourself in the middle of a lonely road?!" Caitlin asked to the girl.
The little girl, still confused, looks at the eyes of the couple of friends and whispers to them: "They are following me"
"Who is following you?" Beth and Caitlin asked at the same time.
The girl look at the sky and whispers: "They!"
Beth and Caitlin look at each other's with fear on their eyes.
"They will hurt me, and they will hurt whoever interposes on their way!" She said.
"She's frightening me" Beth whispered to Caitlin.
"Let's go to the car" Caitlin said to the girl "You will be safe with us"
"We are not safe, they will find me wherever I'll go" The girl answered.
----
Inside the car, Caitlin is sitting with the girl, while Beth is driving.
"Who are they, sweetheart?" Caitlin asked.
"They're demon... heartless demons" the girl said with tears on her eyes.
"Oh, my God..." Beth mumbled.
Caitlin strokes the girl hair. "Tell us your name, sweaty"
"I'm Lucy"
"Where are you from, Lucy?" Caitlin asked.
"I'm from a little town near from here, call: Sharp Brakes"
"I don't know that town!" Beth said, and types the name on the GPS. "There's no such thing called Sharp brakes! Look!" She shows the GPS to Caitlin.
"My town exists! Are you calling me crazy?!" Lucy screamed.
"No one here thinks that you are crazy, sweetheart" Caitlin said, and gives to Beth a bad look while she shakes her head.
"Two nights ago, they came, but something makes them run away... but tonight..." Lucy mumbled "...They returned to kidnap all the women of the town... I-I-I-I just run... I could escape after they take my mother and sister..."
"But, who the hell are they?!!" Beth asked.
"The aliens! The Grey aliens!!!" Lucy screamed to Beth.
"Oh my God" Beth mumbled.
"But, but, but... where is your father?" Caitlin asked.
"I'm almost sure that they killed all the men in Sharp Brakes, but I want to believe that some of them could be alive" Lucy said "My town is near from here, in the next exit we need to turn to the right to take an unpaved road to get there... please, take me home! I need to know if my father is still alive!"
----
One hour later, the car is parked on a side of the road, Lucy is inside of it; she is terrified, she cannot remove her eyes from the night sky looking for UFO. Beth and Caitlin are outside of it, staring at the unpaved road. The road goes right in to the dark wild.
"We just can't go this way! This is insane! I can't believe that you are actually thinking about it!" Beth said.
"You heard the girl... if we want to go to her town; we have to take this road..."

When they were kids, Derek saved Norah's life. Years later, after Derek ended up in a vegetative state from a car crash, Norah married him without a second thought and even used her medical knowledge to heal him. For two years, Norah was devoted, seeking his affection and looking to settle her life-saving debt. But when Derek's first love returned, Norah, faced with divorce, didn't hesitate to sign. Despite being labeled as forsaken, few knew of her true talents. She was a race car driver, a famed designer, a genius hacker, and a renowned doctor. Taken aback, Norah blurted out, "What did you say?"
"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. But his cruelty was far worse than I could have ever imagined-he was accompanied by a pregnant woman, and that woman was Carla, my closest and most trusted friend. In that moment, all of my previous excitement, all my hope, and all of our shared laughter and tears turned into the sharpest of daggers, stabbing into my heart and leaving me gasping for air. Now, all I want is to escape from this place that has left me so broken-to lick my wounds in solitude. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!
