"I don't know about this Dakota." I said as we climbed out of my bedroom window. My feet landed softly on the grass without a sound.
"This is our first high school party. We have to go! It's a must." Dakota chuckled and ruffled my jet black hair. He always talks me into stupid things.
"Okay, but what if my mom checks on us and we're not there." I said, desperately wanting to climb back into the safe haven that was my room.
"It's too late for that. I promise you. This is going to be good. Fine girls will be all over you." He smirked.
"You better be right." I chuckled and shoved him playfully. We walked down the dark empty street. It had to have been past midnight. I looked around, paranoid that I'd find my mom chasing after us.
The party was only a couple streets over from my house, you can imagine my paranoia. At the same time I felt this sort of rush of adrenaline from sneaking out. I get it every time Dakota convinces me to do something like this. It's always been this way for us. For me.
We made it to the party and made our way inside the big brick mansion that was blaring upbeat music you could hear from a block away. It was full of freshman wannabes like myself, but mainly juniors, seniors and sophomores.
"Some spoil brat must live here." Dakota nudged me. I chuckled nervously, the huge crowd was putting my nerves on edge, mix that with paranoia and you can imagine how I felt.
"Hey, you're Dakota Moreau right?" A tall burly blonde came staggering up to us amidst the sea of bodies. His breath reeked of alcohol and I coughed at the stench of it.
"Yeah." Dakota grinned hard, as if it was some honor to be recognized by a senior. I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I could already tell how this night was going to go.
"I've seen you at practice. You have a hell of a throw man. You'll definitely make the team this year." He gave Dakota a firm pat on the back with his meat hooks. Was he even a senior? He looks way too old to be in high school.
"I know I will." Dakota grinned. He grinned because he knew he was good at football and he wasn't shy about it. He's always been good. Hell, Dakota and I learned to play before we learned how to walk. Name any sport and he was good at it.
"Here have some shots." The guy handed us two glasses filled with a clear liquid.
"Thanks man." Dakota clinked his glass against mine and took it in one go. I hesitantly took a swig of the disgusting drink. My throat burned and I wanted to barf it up instantly. And people like drinking this stuff.
"First shots as freshmen! This year's already going great." Dakota grabbed my shoulder. I finished coughing my lungs out and gave him a half hearted smile, wanting to tail it back home. I'm dead if my mom finds out we're gone. I don't mean grounded dead, I mean dead dead. She'll bury me ten feet under. Okay, maybe that's an overstatement but you get the picture. She's strict. It's always been grades and football, nothing else.
"Dakota Moreau! My man!" Another pop eye looking senior walked towards us with two girls-with obvious spray tans- on each arm. They almost looked identical, bleach blonde hair and blue eyes that I'm positive were colored contacts.
"You're popular tonight." I forced a chuckled and grabbed another shot. He grinned and nodded at the senior.
"Consider this a gift. I know you'll be bringing us to play offs." The senior smirked and handed over one of the girls to Dakota. She was wearing nothing but a pink two piece bikini. I rolled my eyes and grabbed a beer, taking in a big swig of it. The after burn wasn't as harsh this time. Maybe I'm getting the hang of this.
Within the next fifteen minutes Dakota and the girl were all over each other. She was sitting on his lap while they had their tongues down each others throats. I was on my third beer and it already felt like the house was a boat.
I got up and staggered back and forth for a bit before finding my balance. If that's what you could call it. I made my way up the stairs in an attempt to find the bathroom. Senior girls winked and whistled as I walked by. I only smiled. I don't feel like catching anything during my first party. I'm sure half these girls have been with half the guys here.
The music wasn't as loud upstairs and there wasn't a person in sight. I found one of the many bathrooms and drained my bladder. My head lolled from side to side as I realized just how intoxicated I was. Can't believe Dakota made out with that girl. He doesn't even know her. Maybe it's the alcohol.
I washed my hands and went downstairs. I don't know how long I was in there for but when I got back Dakota was passed out on the couch and the random chick was now onto her next victim. More than likely infecting them with whatever unknown diseases she had.
"Dakota?" I slurred, slapping his face.
"How much did you have to drink, man?" I chuckled. I shrugged and sat down beside him, trying to regain any sober cell in my body.
A girl with dark hair and the eyes to match came up to me in my trance.
"You're Luka right?" She slurred, clearly more intoxicated than I was.
"Mhm." I nodded. Suddenly she sat on my lap and proceeded to stick her tongue in my mouth. I hesitated for a moment before putting my hand on her waist. Dakota had his fun, so why can't I? It was just getting to the good part until Dakota woke up from his nap.
"Let's go." He slurred, pushing the girl off me. She was too drunk to even give a damn about being pushed by a stranger. I don't even think she realized she was on the floor.
"What the fuck?" Was all my drunk induced self could manage to spit out. I pushed myself off the couch, almost falling over.
"You're drunk let's go." He said. It came out as one long slur that I could barely make out. I shook my head and shoved him. He can make out with random girls and I can't?
"Fuck you." I staggered out the door, pushing past the sweaty bodies and blacked out people. The music was now booming and I could feel it as I walked out the door.
"Hey, wait!" Dakota was staggering behind me like an injured puppy. I ignored him and continued walking down the street. I have to get home.
"Luka, I'm too-" I turned around to find Dakota hurling on the side of the road, clutching his stomach. I groaned and walked over to him. I knew I'd end up babysitting.
"Come on." I swung his arm over my shoulder and dragged him home with me.
"When did you get so heavy Kota." I grunted as I shoved him through my window. He landed with a soft thud but nothing too loud to wake my parents. This is my life, taking care of my best friend, while also trying to take care of my own drunk ass.
I climbed in with as little sound as I could and shut my window, praying my mom wouldn't come barging in. I looked down at Dakota who was still blacked out of his mind. My head was spinning like crazy, or was it the room that was spinning, but I managed to get him safely and soundly on the bed.
I laid down beside him, not bothering to pull out the extra bed from my closet. Whenever I closed my eyes all I could feel was the room going around and around like some carnival ride. I pushed the nauseated feeling aside and tried to sleep.
"Hey I love you man." Dakota slurred waking up from his black out.
"I love you too Dakota. It's bed time."
Dakota turned over to face me. All I could smell was the alcohol on his breath, which was making me more nauseous.
"No I mean I love you man."
"I know I lo-"
Dakota's lips cut me off mid sentence. My drunk state didn't care to register what was going on but at the same time I was sober enough to know that I liked what was happening.
I ran a hand through his ashy dark hair and gently caressed his bottom lip with my tongue. Why are we doing this? We're best friends. My sober mind was battling with my drunk mind and I didn't know which one to listen to.
Dakota slid his hand up the back of my shirt, breathing hard as he moved his lips with mine. With a heavy pounding heart I reached for his pants with a shaky hand.
His tongue was grazing mine, going in and out of my mouth, making my body tingle. My cheeks felt hot and my skin sweaty as I unbuttoned his pants, hesitantly sliding my hand down his trousers.
"Luka." He moaned softly into the nape of my neck, sending chills down my spine. My member ached in pleasure. He cupped the side of my face, looking into my eyes with his beautiful hazel pairs. It was in this moment that I realized just how attractive he truly was. The way his eyes looked at me, it was like I was looking at a completely different person. Realizing how perfectly shaped his facial features were, his hair flowed and the way he bit his lip looking at mine. Dakota leaned in closer to me, slipping his tongue into my mouth once more. I could feel the heat from his face and my own. He put his teeth against the skin of my neck and bit down and I let out a small gasp, letting myself get momentarily lost in us.
This isn't right, is it? I should stop.
"I can't." I mumbled removing my hand from his pants.
"What?"
I got off the bed in a hurry and ran to the bathroom almost stumbling to the floor. I hurled nearly missing the toilet, clutching onto it for dear life. I laid on the floor with closed eyes and let myself drift off into a deep sleep.
This wasn't how I thought the night would go.
